No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player in the world by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
