Omaha Hi-Lo: Fundamental Overview

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is commonly seen as one of the most difficult but popular poker variations. It is a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for action from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once obscure variation, has grown in acceptance so amazingly.
Omaha hi lo begins just like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are given out to every player. A round of betting ensues where gamblers can wager, check, or fold. 3 cards are given out, this is called the flop. A further sequence of betting ensues. Once all the players have in turn called or folded, another card is flipped on the turn. a further sequence of betting happens and then the river card is flipped. The entrants must attempt to make the best high and low 5 card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is the point where a number of players get baffled. Unlike Hold’em, where the board can make up every player’s hand, in Omaha hi/lo the player must utilize precisely 3 cards on the board, and precisely two hole cards. Not a single card more, no less. Unlike normal Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot can be won: the "high hand" or the "lower hand."
