Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Posted in Poker on 12/25/2025 10:25 am by MarleyGus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to achieve closing game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While competing in net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amount. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes omaha eight-or-better and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
