No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He started playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
