NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five where he enjoyed taking part in different card games at a young age. He discovered himself getting really aggressive in these particular card games while competing against his dad. After graduating from Sr. High school, Howard decided to place college on hold for a bit and moved to New York to play some formidable chess. While participating in chess, he was brought in to a poker game taking place in the rear of the room. Howard’s initial 2 years were rough as he played countless hours and fail to win most times. He made some additional money by becoming an assistant for the poker players. He believed he could better his game by adjusting his life away from poker. He brought about an attempt to get more sleep and focus even more on poker.

The actual advancement in his abilities happened when he began gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the greatest gamblers would often challenge one another. He was able to access several of the greatest minds in chess. With their assistance, he would sharpen his strategic thinking abilities. He applied these strategic ideas to the game of No-Limit Texas Holdem.

Howard also helped his sister Annie Duke master poker. Annie Duke was an excellent student of poker as she would consistently be asking questions about how to make the correct decision. Howard told Annie Duke to head out to Vegas and play in the World Series of Poker competition. She is one of the strongest women players the poker world has ever seen. He headed to Las Vegas in 1993 and played money games for the next 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament grew in popularity, he decided to play more tournaments.
