Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve last game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best gamblers anywhere in the world. While betting on online poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is flat broke, he has no reason to settle at the game with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full dollar value. I think television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The best players in the world might be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen betting on net poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes Omaha and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash games?

Caribbean Poker Rules and Tips

Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely related to chemin de fer than traditional poker, in that the players bet against the bank rather than the other players. The succeeding hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is little bluffing or different kinds of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up before the croupier declares "No more wagers." At that point, both you and the dealer and of course all of the different players acquire 5 cards each. After you have seen your hand and the casino’s initial card, you must in turn make a call bet or give up. The call bet’s amount is on same level to your original ante, meaning that the risks will have increased two fold. Bowing out means that your ante goes immediately to the house. After the bet comes the conclusion. If the dealer doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your wager is given back, including a sum equal to the ante. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or greater, you succeed if your hand is greater than the casino’s hand. The bank pony’s up chips even with your wager and fixed expectations on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
