Hold em Poker : Semi-Bluffing and Defensive Gambling

Seems like most individuals are often talking about pre-flop method, so I wanted to speak a tiny bit about how I play following the flop. Possibly I can assist others, or possibly they have advice to improve my play.
I feel that two of the most critical plays right after the flop are the semi-bluff and the defensive wager. Which is because these are the plays you produce whenever you havent hit a hand except you’ve a fine drawing hand. Its easy to wager on a hand once you flop a monster. Except I feel that these two are the very best techniques to bet on a drawing. Each one is wagered depending on you opponent(s) and your postion. So here is how I play it, so tell me what you think.
Early Position – Tight Opponents:
A semi-bluff works fairly properly in this position. Arrive out betting and if a tight player did not hit a hand he’ll probably lay down, and if he’s unsure you may possibly get a call. But watch out, if that tight player comes back over the best it may perhaps be time to receive away.
Early Place – Loose Competitors
It is were I like to do a defensive wager. Make a decision how several chips you might be willing to chance on your draw and wager. That is normally a much smaller wager than normal. It has been my experience that the loose gambler will usually just call a wager instead of re-raise. On the other hand, should you check to them, theyre far more likely to throw in far more chips than your willing to pay.
Late Placement – Tight Opponents
This can be the finest time to try and do a semi-bluff, particularly if most of the table checks. If that is the case you’ll probaly pick up the pot now. If a gambler before has wager, you have to make a decision if he has a hand or not. If not, then reraise and he will probably go away since he was attempting to steal the pot. Late Place – Loose Opponents
This one is really a bit complicated, simply because it’s more difficult to put a loose player on a hand. And if your in late position against loose gambler, odds are they have already bet. That is were I usually decide to take a chance and are available back over the best of them and hope they don’t call, and if they do, nicely then its time to gamble. Chances are though even a loose player will go away in case you arrive back strong enough.
Don’t forget though that these are moves I only make immediately after the flop comes and I have a reasonable drawing hand (usually not a gutshot either). Possibly 4 to the flush or the open ended straight, for instance.
